Nasmyth Strengthens Senior Team, Appoints John Rooney as COO

London: Nasmyth announced on February 8 the appointment of John Rooney as its new Chief Operating Officer. John has a wealth of experience in the Aerospace Industry, having held senior operational positions at Hampson Aerospace and more recently at Gardner Aerospace.

Speaking about his new role, John said: “I am delighted to join Nasmyth. I will have a pivotal role to play working across Nasmyth’s precision engineering and metal treatment businesses as we enter a significant period of growth.”

Tony Upton, Chief Executive Officer, added: “John will be instrumental in implementing Nasmyth’s manufacturing strategy as we continue our growth journey.”

Nasmyth continues to grow its precision engineering and metal treatment capabilities, in support of both OE production and aftermarket operations, across its 9 sites.

Established in December 2003, Nasmyth brings together in a single effective team, the collective expertise, resources and technology of the customer-orientated, precision engineering businesses. These provide the basis for four global capabilities: Machining of hard and soft metals, Systems and Defence manufacturing and assembly,  Fabrication and Welding and Metal Treatments.

Nasmyth’s capabilities include: Design and reverse engineering, supported by CAD/CAM, the latest analytical techniques and testing facilities and state of the art analytical techniques and technologies, Precision machining and shaping of high-performance metals and materials; Construction, testing and certification of both simple and complex structures using the most advanced welding and assembly techniques; System engineering, assembly and total product or component solutions; Plasticised, chemical and thermal treatments and repairs, Global supply chain management and logistical solutions and Best-in-class after-sales support.
