Tel Aviv: Iran is still engaged in suspicious activities at an undeclared nuclear facility, which might seriously breach the memorandum of understanding with the United States. At the same time, there is still very little movement at the devastated nuclear site bombed in the recent war.
Israeli sources said that this is not surprising as Tehran has breached all prior agreement meant to limit their nuclear ambitions. “Iran takes full advantage of the naivety of the West, mainly the US,” one Israeli source said.
New satellite images from late June 2026 indicate unusual activity at the Pickaxe Mountain complex, a site associated with Iran’s nuclear programme. These images, according to the Israeli sources, raise questions about Iran’s compliance with its obligations under the memorandum of understanding signed with the United States.
According to an analysis by the Institute for Science and International Security (ISIS), vehicle traffic was detected on the roads leading to the western tunnel entrances at the complex, indicating that construction work within the tunnel system is ongoing. In addition, work is also ongoing to strengthen the tunnel entrances. The institute notes that the memorandum of understanding between Washington and Tehran obliges Iran to maintain the status quo, and therefore it is supposed to prohibit construction work at any facility related to the nuclear program, including the Pickaxe Mountain complex.
Along with the activity in the western area of the complex, the researchers note that the eastern tunnel openings are still partially covered with dirt, preventing the entry of ground vehicles. This is a situation that the institute reported on in early May, and it remains unchanged in the new photographs. The Israeli sources pointed out that the Israeli intelligence believes that Iran will accelerate its race to the bomb, after it was attacked by the US and Israel.
