Boaz Levy Appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors of Israel Aerospace Industries

The appointment marks a precedent in the history of Israeli government-owned companies, making Levy the first serving CEO to be appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors of the same company. Ministers Katz and Amsalem have approved the appointment

Tel Aviv: Israel’s Defence Minister, Israel Katz and the Minister in charge of the Government Companies Authority, Dudi Amsalem, on May 13 signed the official appointment letter appointing Boaz Levy as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI). The appointment follows Levy’s election by the company’s Board of Directors and the Senior Appointments Committee’s approval.

The appointment marks a precedent in the history of Israeli government-owned companies, making Levy the first serving CEO to be appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors of the same company.

Defence Minister Israel Katz, said, “This unprecedented step brings together deep managerial, technological and defence experience to IAI’s Board of Directors. Boaz Levy has demonstrated an exceptional ability over the years to lead IAI to significant achievements, both in terms of defence as well as economically. As someone who evolved in IAI over the last few decades, Boaz knows the company in depth and I am certain that his broad and deep familiarity with all levels of the organisation and the extensive experience he has accumulated provide him with a unique ability to lead the Board of Directors at this significant point in time. Boaz Levy has served as CEO of Israel Aerospace Industries since 2020. Throughout his tenure, he has led the company to unprecedented technological and business results, strengthening its position as one of the world’s leading defence companies. Under his leadership, Israel Aerospace Industries has significantly expanded its global operations, achieved record order backlogs, and delivered exceptional financial performance.

Levy began his career at IAI in 1990 as an engineer on the Arrow programme and later held several key positions in the company, including head of the Arrow programme, head of the Barak programme, director of the Air-Defence Systems Plant, and EVP of the Systems, Missiles and Space Group.

Levy holds a bachelor’s degree in aeronautical engineering and a master’s degree in systems engineering – both from Israel’s Institute of Technology. He has thirty-five years of experience in financial, technological, business, management, and marketing fields, as well as leading a long line of huge transactions with clients around the world.
