SAS Technology and Sigmund Naval & Marine Sign MoU to Design, Produce and Deploy Next-Gen USV

London: Spirit Aeronautical Systems S.A. (SAS Technology) of Greece and Sigmund Naval & Marine Ltd of the United Kingdom announced the signing of an exclusive memorandum of understanding during the DSEI 2025 exhibition, marking a major step in defence and maritime innovation for the Eastern Mediterranean.

SAS Technology is a leading Greek manufacturer of dual-use advanced unmanned systems, renowned for the SARISA II, the world’s first UCAV to successfully launch the laser-guided rocket (THALES FZ275) with sub-meter precision.

Sigmund Naval & Marine Ltd is a premier British naval design studio with award-winning expertise in USVs, patrol boats and warships, having delivered state-of-the-art unmanned vessels ranging from 11 to 60 metres to international clients.

Under the agreement, the two companies will cooperate exclusively on the design, production, and deployment of Unmanned Surface Vehicles (USVs) in Greece and Cyprus. Local production will strengthen Greece’s industrial base, enhance technological sovereignty, and support regional strategic autonomy. The vessels’ applications span defence and coastal surveillance, intelligence gathering, mine counter-measures, search and rescue, and environmental monitoring — directly serving the operational needs of Greece, Cyprus, and the wider East Mediterranean.

At the heart of the cooperation stands the TriRaptor 15m USV, a next-generation maritime asset that redefines force projection and coastal security. With its stealth design, 70-knot top speed, 720-nautical-mile endurance, and modular payloads, it is configurable for ISR, anti-submarine warfare, patrol, and logistics missions.

For Greece, Cyprus, and the wider East Mediterranean, the deployment of such platforms is not only a technological leap but also a strategic multiplier — safeguarding energy corridors, enhancing maritime sovereignty, and reinforcing stability in one of the world’s most contested naval theatres.

Commenting on the agreement, Mike Spiridakos, CEO of SAS Technology, stated, “This partnership underlines our commitment to delivering agile and adaptable automation solutions for critical safety challenges. It is a privilege to integrate Sigmund’s world-class expertise into SAS’s capabilities. Local production of state-of-the-art USVs fortifies resilience, drives industrial cooperation, and enhances regional security at sea.”
