Decades of Proven Flight Heritage

Through IRCA, its primary Italian industrial operation, Zoppas Industries has been an ESA-qualified supplier of flexible heaters compliant with stringent ESCC 4009 standards since 1992. Over the last 30-plus years, Zoppas heating elements have flown on more than 1,000 satellites, supporting an expansive portfolio of institutional scientific endeavours and commercial fleets.

Designed for severe thermal constraints, the company’s ultra-thin flexible heaters deliver exceptional power density and customisable geometries. This versatility allows satellite engineers to apply precise thermal loads directly to critical components where space and mass budgets are tightly constrained. Operating standard qualified solutions span from -65°C to +200°C, while a next-generation Pure Polyimide Heater (PPH) line currently in development extends continuous operating limits up to +250°C.

This track record extends globally. Zoppas has maintained a strategic, nearly three-decade partnership with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). A defining milestone of this collaboration occurred during the historic Chandrayaan-3 mission, where Zoppas Industries supplied all thermal control heaters for the spacecraft. The successful soft landing near the lunar south pole in August 2023 offered a dramatic, real-world demonstration of the technology’s absolute reliability in deep space.

Similarly, on ESA’s Euclid mission, Zoppas heating hardware was instrumental in a delicate, high-stakes procedure: de-icing optical equipment and restoring telescope performance under extreme cryogenic conditions at roughly 126 K.
