MIDHANI Develops Cutting-Edge High Temperature Hydrogen Annealing Furnace, Receives First Trial Order of Superalloys from Rolls Royce

New Delhi: MIDHANI has developed a cutting-edge High Temperature Hydrogen Annealing Furnace, designed and built in-house, this remarkable furnace reaches a very high temperature of 1,150°C. The equipment can be used for reducing, sintering, annealing and surface treatment of hard alloy, ceramic material, magnetic material and rare refractory metal in the atmosphere of hydrogen or forming gas.

MIDHANI was set up by the Defence Metallurgical Research Laboratory in the early 1970s to manufacture critical materials required in the strategic sectors of India’s defence industry. These sectors included nuclear power, satellite launch vehicles, aircraft, and missiles.

Recently, MIDHANI announced on its Twitter handle that it has received first trial order of superalloys from Rolls Royce. MIDHANI’s big initiative in aerospace materials indigenisation aims to meet not only India’s domestic need but also cater to the overseas market. MIDHANI also created history by starting its 1000th heat in the Indigenously developed Vacuum Arc Remelting (VAR) furnace within 6 years.

MIDHANI has also collaborated with Weatherford International USA, which audited MIDHANI’s Quality management system for sourcing critical alloys for its operations in Oil & Gas Sector.
