IAI Unveils HYPNOSIS: High-Power Soft-Kill Navigation Warfare Air Defence System

Designed to simultaneously disrupt and neutralise multiple aerial threats that rely on GNSS, HYPNOSIS delivers a complementary defence layer with kinetic interception systems

Tel Aviv: Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) unveiled HYPNOSIS, an advanced navigation warfare (NAVWAR) air defence system, designed to counter a broad spectrum of aerial threats including unmanned aerial systems (UAS) deployed in large volumes by disrupting their satellite navigation systems.

The satellite navigation systems onboard aerial systems need to receive the position and time data from the satellites in order to accurately reach their targets. When these systems are disrupted or neutralised, the aerial threats can no longer accurately navigate to their intended targets.

Boaz Levy, IAI Chairman of the Board, said, “IAI is a global leader in air defence solutions against evolving aerial threats, with decades of operational excellence, continuous innovation, and an uncompromising commitment to our ally’s security. Today’s battlespace demands integrated, multi-layered defence capabilities that can address multiple threats. IAI is at the forefront of this mission, delivering advanced technologies that provide our customers with decisive operational advantage to safeguard both national security and civilian lives.

Guy Barlev, Executive VP and GM of the Space Missiles and Systems, IAI remarked, “HYPNOSIS provides a critical and highly effective soft-kill defence layer, enabling nations to address the growing spectrum of GNSS-based aerial threats. The system represents a significant leap forward in protecting strategic assets. When integrated with hard-kill defence systems, it further strengthens the multi-layered defence concept by adding an additional protection layer that is operationally effective and cost-efficient complementing existing kinetic interception systems.”

The HYPNOSIS system is comprised of an array of mobile jamming and spoofing stations that operate in unison to create a comprehensive, adaptive solution. Each station is seamlessly connected to a central Command and Control (C2) centre, enabling real-time coordination, threat analysis and rapid response. Strategically deployed around designated protected areas, the stations operate as an integral component of a multi-layered air defence architecture.

Built on IAI’s extensive proven operational experience in NAVWAR, HYPNOSIS integrates advanced jamming and spoofing technologies designed to disrupt satellite navigation systems, including advanced navigation systems. The system operates through a unified C2 architecture that could be integrated with hard-kill systems, enabling coordinated and effective responses in rapidly evolving threat environments.

HYPNOSIS is designed to protect critical assets and strategic infrastructure, including strategic sites, energy facilities and air defence arrays. The system can counter coordinated attacks involving multiple threats approaching simultaneously from different directions while enabling fully autonomous operation through a networked C2 centre without requiring operator intervention.
