Civil Aviation

The Farnborough Airshow 2022 became the major occasion for the aerospace sector as it revealed the need for aircraft in the future by a significant occurrence. Farnborough Airshow 2022 closing ceremony went through the rapid aviation expansion that Boeing and Airbus had anticipated in the ensuing years. OAG stated the same thing. As the airshow changed the game for many manufacturers and introduced a new competitor, the earlier approach to attracting customers were challenged with new pitch.

Here, we’ve included some sales data for Boeing, Embraer, and Airbus to gauge the success of the airshow.

Boeing aircraft

Commencing with Boeing, although the aircraft manufacturer had previously received criticism for the Boeing 737 Max, the Boeing company performed exceptionally well at the airshow, receiving the greatest number of orders and commitments to purchase the aircraft. However, after the aircraft was put back into use, only a small number of airlines continued to consider the Boeing 737 Max for their airlines.

The Boeing 737-10 max, Boeing 787, and Boeing 777x, which is currently in the experimental stage, are three significant airlines that the Boeing corporation is developing but whose production has been halted due to clarification and certifications.

Boeing looks prepared to challenge the market with great confidence despite all of the difficulties and successes. Finally, after a long wait, the moment seems to have arrived as the Boeing’s business standing has increased since the Farnborough airshow, and demand has reached pre-show levels.

Orders

Airlines placed new orders, and Boeing maintained high order rates on its final day at Farnborough. Unexpectedly, the Boeing 737 Max is in high demand. More than 253 aircraft have been ordered, including commitments to buy more. The majority of the commercial and defence products are garnering attention, as Boeing demonstrated.

* Reaffirmation of the commitment by Norwegian Air Shuttle ASA to buy 30 Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft.

* Twelve 737-8 jets have been ordered by Aviation Capital Group.

* Up to 66 737 MAX aircraft have been ordered and committed to by 777 Partners.

* Qatar Airways completes the purchase of 25 737 MAX aircraft.

* Up to four additional 767-300 Boeing freighters are being ordered by Saltchuk Aviation.

* Azerbaijan Airlines signs a memorandum of understanding to buy four more aircraft as part of its expansion of its Boeing 787 Dreamliner fleet.

* BAM places the first order for nine additional 737-800 BCFs on the new conversion line. AerCap, the largest 787 customer in the world, expands its fleet with five 787 Dreamliners. Armenian and Georgian Airlines order Three 737-800 Boeing Converted Freighters to Expand Capacity.

  • In addition to choosing the new 777-8 Freighter, All Nippon Airways (ANA) today held a signing ceremony at the Farnborough International Airshow to formally place an order for 20 737-8 aircraft with 10 options.
  • Delta Carrier chooses the largest 737 MAX model and orders 100 737-10s with the option of 30 additional aircraft.

The following orders were placed with Boeing as of the final day of the Farnborough air show in 2022 :

  • 253 –  Boeing 737 max
  • 12 – B737-800 BCF
  • 4 – Boeing 767-300 F
  • 9 – Boeing 787

Airbus Aircraft

Engaged in fierce competition with Boeing, Airbus introduced a number of technologies at airshows. Along with other products, Airbus exhibited its two best-selling aeroplanes, the A320 Neo and the A350. The recent legal conflict between Airbus and Qatar Airways has had a negative impact on this country’s aircraft market. After cancelling an order for Airbus A320 aircraft, Qatar Airlines chose the Boeing 737 Max model. A320 aircraft have also been ordered by regular customers of Airbus in significant numbers.

The outstanding cabin interiors of the Airbus A350 operated by ITA Airlines were another highlight of the exhibition. The Airbus A350, which is currently the best and most successful aircraft and offers strong competition to Boeing aircraft, is still being developed by Airbus to the next level.

  • ATAM Airlines expands fleet with additional 17 A321neo orders and supports the A321XLR
  • EasyJet confirmed the purchase of 56 additional A320neo Family aircraft.
  • Twelve A220-300 aircraft have been confirmed as orders by Delta Air Lines.

The following orders were placed with Airbus as of the final day of the Farnborough air show.

  • 17 – A321 neo
  • 56 – A320 neo
  • 12 – A220-300

Embraer Aircraft

In the airshow, Embraer also gave a stellar performance. The significant aircraft were shown and a stunning key display was performed at the airshow by an Embraer E192-E2 aircraft with two liveries. Embraer foresaw this with the eVTOL projects, which have also made substantial progress. Additionally, Embraer received orders for the aircraft’s passenger and freighter versions. Embraer performed admirably when compared to other airshows.

* Alaska Air Group orders Eight New E175 aircraft for operation with Horizon Air

* Porter Airlines orders a further 20 Embraer E195-E2s to support major expansion plan

* NAC contracts with Astral Aviation to supply two Embraer E190F

The following orders were placed with Embraer as of the final day of the Farnborough airshow:

  • 8 – E175

  • 2- E190F

Overview of Hydrogen and Sustainable Technologies from Airbus and Boeing

Boeing and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. (MHI) declared they would strengthen their long-standing alliance and work together to help the world meet its ambitious climate goals. The memorandum of understanding (MOU) focused on cooperatively studying sustainable technologies, such as hydrogen, electrification, sustainable materials, zero climate impact propulsion technologies, new aircraft design concepts, and commercialising sustainable aviation fuels (SAF). Together, Boeing and MHI will research new feedstocks and SAF production technologies, such as carbon capture and green hydrogen.

Airbus has joined Hy24, the largest clean hydrogen infrastructure investment fund in the world managed by FiveTHydrogen, an investment manager specialising in clean hydrogen initiatives, and Ardian, a global private investment firm.

Genuine, substantial green hydrogen infrastructure projects will receive financial support from the Hy24 investment fund from all over the world. By taking part, Airbus shows its dedication to advancing the global hydrogen economy, which is necessary for the successful introduction of its zero-emission commercial aircraft by 2035.

Embraer projects with Widerøe include ‘Project Zero’, a partnership with Rolls-Royce to research a 50-seat aircraft with truly zero emissions (zero NOx and other greenhouse gases). This supporting piece examines all facets of creating and running the 19–50 seat Energia concepts.
