ASIO Awarded US Contract to Deliver Hundreds of NOCTA Autonomous Optical Navigation Systems for UAV Operation in Contested Environments

Kfar Saba, Israel: ASIO, a pioneer in tactical combat solutions specialising in resilient navigation and situational awareness, has been awarded a multi-million-dollar contract from a US prime to deliver several hundred NOCTA optical navigation systems for a mission-critical UAV programme.

The contract reflects growing demand for Assured Positioning, Navigation and Timing (APNT) solutions that enable reliable autonomous operations in GNSS-denied and contested environments, where jamming and spoofing disrupt mission execution.

With more than 10,000 operational hours logged in real-world combat missions, NOCTA is a fully fielded, compact, low-SWaP, edge-operated optical positioning module designed for Group 1 and Group 2 unmanned aerial systems (UAS). It provides DRIFT-FREE positioning without reliance on GPS or communications, enabling mission continuity for UAV operations in denied environments. The system is self-contained, allowing for fast and simple integration across a wide range of aerial platforms.

NOCTA supports day and night operations and can integrate with onboard sensors such as LiDAR to enhance performance across diverse mission conditions. NOCTA, also known as NavGuard, builds on extensive operational experience and continuous product evolution.

ASIO’s solutions have been tested in some of the most challenging operational environments, including snow-covered terrain, desert conditions and complex mixed landscapes, ensuring reliability across diverse mission scenarios.

“This contract reflects a clear operational requirement,” said Tomer Malchi, Founder & CEO of ASIO. “For UAV operators, mission continuity depends on the ability to operate autonomously and navigate seamlessly when GNSS is spoofed or jammed and communications are blocked. NOCTA was developed to ensure reliable operation and mission execution under these conditions.”

“The US market is actively seeking reliable and proven APNT capabilities that can be deployed today,” said Eugene Mamajek, General Manager, ASIO US. “This contract reflects strong confidence in ASIO’s technology and supports our continued expansion and customer engagement in the US.”

ASIO’s systems are combat-proven and have accumulated extensive operational flight hours in combat conditions in some of the most challenging RF-contested and GNSS-denied environments.
