New Delhi: The French company, Naval Group, through its 100% subsidiary Naval Group India shares a continued commitment towards Indian Navy, Indian shipyards and industry in providing modern technologies through the creation of sustainable indigenous ecosystem while fostering “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” spirit.

Naval Group India’s role has been to boost the indigenised content of the P75 submarines manufactured by MDL through TOT and is responsible for identifying and qualifying local industrial partners to increase the self-reliance of Indian Navy as far as maintenance is concerned, in line with the “Make in India” initiative.

Featuring in the inaugural episode of Aatmanirbhar Bharat: Makers of Indian Defence – a TV documentary series that was rolled out on ET NOW channel – March 19 and March 20, Mr Laurent Videau, Managing Director of Naval Group India said that “our local subsidiary has been created to indigenize major equipment of the submarines to enable India in becoming self-reliant.”

Elaborating further, he said “MDL can now manufacture these submarines autonomously and hundreds of MSMEs have been audited by us and we have taken about tens of them for local manufacturing of key complex submarine components in all three categories – Float, Move and Fight.”

The Group has displayed continuous efforts of participating in various defence endeavours for the Indian Navy by empowering Indian industrial partners to cater to the requirements of the Indian Shipyards and the Navy’s self-reliance.

The goal of Naval Group India is to further its involvement in empowering more industries by creating a robust eco-system that can support the long term needs of Indian Navy

Commenting further, Mr Laurent Videau said the industrial eco-system that has been created has allowed a remarkable 30 per cent indigenisation. It is indeed remarkable given that submarines are one of the most complex machines made by man.
