Poland to Expand Shopping List of Israeli Defence Systems, Advanced Negotiations Underway

Tel VIV: The Polish ministry of defence is in advanced negotiations in order to expand the shopping list of Israeli defence systems. The current shopping list includes a $100 million contract for 18 ELTA Systems STAR-X coastal radars and integration plans for Rafael’s Trophy Active Protection System on Polish tanks.

Poland has signed a contract with Israel’s ELTA Systems (a subsidiary of Israel Aerospace Industries) for 18 ELM-2238X STAR-X 3D radars valued at approximately PLN 430 million ($100 million) to monitor low-flying and naval threats in the Baltic Sea, with deliveries running from 2027 to 2030.

Israeli sources confirmed that Poland will integrate Israel-designed Trophy Active Protection Systems (APS) onto Polish K2PL main battle tanks via cooperative agreements involving Rafael.

Poland will continue to equip its army with Rafael’s Spike anti-tank guided missiles across the Polish armed forces.

The Polish government has indicated that it is planning to get a multi-layered air defence system based on the Israeli combat-proven one.

Driven by regional security concerns regarding Russia, Poland maintains the highest relative defence expenditure in NATO (nearing 4.7% of GDP), funding a massive multi-layered military modernisation that selectively incorporates proven Israeli radar and tracking components.
