Tel Aviv: Israel decided to continue the sharing of classified information with the US, in spite of the anger and frustration from the leaking of the alleged Israeli involvement in the assassination of a senior Iranian IRGC officer.

“Washington sent a message to Israel not to keep trying to torpedo the nuclear agreement with Iran but doing so caused big damage to Israel,” a senior defence source told Raksha Anirveda.

The New York Times (NYT) reported that Israel informed the United States that it was responsible for the killing of an Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps Quds Force officer in Tehran on Sunday, May 22. The NYT reported that Israel confirmed in a briefing with American officials that Colonel Hassan Sayad Khodayari, who was killed in a vehicle, was a deputy commander of the Quds Force’s Unit 840 responsible for terror attacks against Israeli and Western targets outside of Iran.

Reports claim that Israel intended to issue a warning to the Islamic Republic to stop operations of the IRGC’s terrorist unit whose existence has never been confirmed by Iran. Israel has not claimed responsibility for the assassination but according to Israeli defence sources the “Shadow War” with Iran is reaching new heights.

Israel has not reacted to reports in different media outlets on an Israeli attack on one of a very important Iranian nuclear facility. According to Iranian officials quoted by the Tasnim news agency, a “industrial accident” occurred at a facility on the Parchin military base, resulting in several fatalities. Iranian media reported that an explosion took place at the heart of the military compound, killing two “military experts. Though the cause of explosion is not clear, reports link it to drone strike.

Located southeast of Tehran, Parchin is a large military complex and is closely linked to the Iranian missile program. The military complex is also believed to house sites associated with the Iranian nuclear weapons.
