Moscow: JSC ROSOBORONEXPORT (part of the Rostec State Corporation) is launching a global marketing campaign for the Garpia-A1E, the latest long-range UAV system, developed and manufactured by the Almaz-Antey Air and Space Defence Corporation.
The Garpia-A1E system is designed to engage fixed targets with specified coordinates.
“Today, the Garpia-A1E is the only loitering munition on the global market with a range of up to 1,000 km. It can carry a warhead weighing over 50 kg and its CEP does not exceed 4 metres,” said Alexander Mikheev, Director General of ROSOBORONEXPORT and Deputy Chairman of the Union of Machine Builders of Russia (Soyuzmash of Russia).
“Thanks to its performance characteristics that are unique for the market and the excellent results demonstrated during actual tactical employment, the export version of the UAV has already attracted interest from foreign customers and has been presented to a number of partners. ROSOBORONEXPORT is open to negotiations regarding the supply of the Garpia-A1E system and the localisation of its production in countries friendly to Russia,” he said.
The BLA-D long-range attack drone, part of the Garpia-A1E system, utilises a flying wing configuration with a pusher propeller. It is powered by a gasoline engine. The BLA-D loitering munition can fly at altitudes ranging from 50 to 2,500 metres with a maximum speed of at least 170 km/h. Its maximum range is at least 1,000 km, and its endurance is at least 6 hours. Flight is automatic.
The length of the munition’s fuselage is 3.4 metres, the wingspan is 3 meters, and the takeoff weight is 250 kg.
“When conducting contract and supply work regarding Russian military products, ROSOBORONEXPORT primarily considers the need for the manufacturer to fulfill its obligations to the Russian Ministry of Defence. Currently, Almaz-Antey has mastered the series production of the Garpia-A1E system and reached a level that enables it to fulfill contracts with foreign customers within competitive timeframes without compromising the country’s defence capability,” added Alexander Mikheev.
