Tel Aviv: The increased tension between Moscow and Jerusalem over the Israeli vocal support of Ukraine brought Israel to use more standoff weapon systems in the recent attack on Iranian related targets in Syria on October 21.

According to a report on the website of the Syrian Observatory for Human rights (SOHR) operating from London, the organisation activists  have reported that two Israeli missiles were fired on an Air Defence battalion in Ain Radwan area, while another missile was fired on a military facility in Kafr Qak in southern Rif Dimashq.

“Moreover, several Israeli missiles hit the area of the Damascus International Airport.” According to the report, missiles of the regime’s Air Defence fell in several areas in Rif Dimashq including in Al-Dimas and Al-Hussayniyah areas. However, no casualties have been reported yet.

The SOHR activists have just reported that Israeli missiles hit regime military positions southern of the capital Damascus, where several missiles hit the area near Damascus International Airport and southern Rif Dimashq, coinciding with attempts by regime’s Anti-Air defences to block the targets in the sky over the southern area.

This came after over a month since the last attack on September 17. It is worth noting that this Israeli attack was the 26th one on Syrian territory during 2022.

On September 17, SOHR activists monitored an Israeli attack on positions in Al-Ghasola farms near Damascus International Airport, the vicinity of Al-Sayda Zainab area and Al-Kaswa area in Rif Dimashq, where Iran-backed militias are stationed. Israel uses air and ground launched long range weapon systems to perform those attacks in Syria.
