Iran’s Successful Launch of Ballistic Missiles from Underground Launchers Causes Concern in the US Forces in the Gulf Region

Iran’s capability to launch ballistic missiles from underground launchers causes concern in the U.S forces in the region. A few weeks ago Iran launched missiles from hidden underground launchers. This caused concern in the command of the U.S Forces in the Gulf region.

After the launch from underground launchers and exposed by the Iranians themselves, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Army Central Command confirmed that U.S. forces went on alert during the shooting. “The incident lasted a few minutes and immediately after it became clear that there was no threat, we returned to routine,” she added.

Following the underground missile drill, the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) announced that this was the “first time in the world” that such an exercise had been carried out. It was a “successful launch of ballistic missiles from the depths of the earth. Iran is known to have invested heavily in huge underground shelters to protect some of its ballistic missile launch capability.

Israeli experts told Raksha Anirveda that all the Iranian ballistic missiles with a diameter of 4.1 feet can be fitted to carry a nuclear warhead. An example is the Shahab-3, a medium-range ballistic missile (MRBM) developed by Iran and based on the North Korean Nodong-1. The Shahab-3 has a range of 620 miles.
