Adieu: Maj Gen C P Singh, Arty

Maj Gen C P Singh was a  dynamic , professionally competent  and fully devoted officer of the Indian Army.  He was born on December 23, 1957 at Village Malpura  in Agra, Uttar Pradesh. After graduation from Agra University, he joined Indian Military Academy’s 65th Regular course in July 1978 and was allotted Alamein company, Cariappa Battalion .He passed out from IMA as JUO on December 22, 1979 and was commissioned-in 37 Medium Regiment (Coorg) as 2nd  Lieutenant. The Unit was located at Babina near Jhansi.

CP Singh earned his Army Aviation Wing on  May 14, 1985 as a young Captain and became a dedicated and daring helicopter pilot of Cheetahs/Chetaks/Dhurv. He qualified for Defence Services Staff College as a Major and obtained an MSc degree in Defence Studies.

CP Singh commanded 190 Medium Regiment after attending the Senior Command course at Army War College. Later-on he was selected for Higher Command and  promoted as a Brigadier. He commanded  261 Artillery brigade in ntheat capacity.

Subsequently, CP Singh was nominated for the National Defence College, New Delhi and obtained his M Phil degree and was promoted as Major General. He was appointed as General Officer Commanding 42 Arty Division under Strike Corps.

His last appointment was Additional Director General, National Cadet Corps. He retired after 36 years of Meritorious service in 2015 and settled down in Jaipur ( Rajasthan).

CP Singh served in  Eastern, Western and Northern theatres and  participated in Op Vijay , Op Parakram, Op Rakshak , OP Meghdoot with indomitable courage and selfless devotion.

His second innings was rather more glorious. He was appointed as Dean, Student Welfare at Amity University, Jaipur, Rajasthan, where he served for three years.

He also founded Resolute Logistics Private Limited in 2018 and continued with the company till  July 17, 2024 . He was also a motivational speaker and mentor to many students. He assisted and guided Ex Servicemen for  respectable second career. In addition, he was also a  Strategic Analyst and a celebrated author and had to his credit large number of articles, expert opinion pieces as a Defence Analyst for various nespapers, journals and web portals. His motivational lectures  on various topics are avaiulable on YouTube and Instagram.

Maj Gen C P Singh defeated Cancer three times and always came out as a winner with his strong will power. The veteran was a fitness enthusiast and every day 12 kms of cycling was his passion. He was a keen golfer also.

On  July 17, 2024 after battling for four days at Army’s Research and Referral Hospital, Delhi Cantt, he Ieft for the heavenly abode. He was cremated with Military honours at Jaipur in presence of his wife, his son – Wing Cdr Eklavya, IAF; Lt Col  Saxsena, Army – Son-in-Law, and a large fraternity of veterans and his near and dear ones.

We, as his coursemates from 65 Regular Batch, bid him farewell with moist eyes  for his eternal journey …You will remain in our Memory for ever …Final Adieu Friend.
