Synhelion Partners with Bernina Gran Turismo: Historic Mountain Race Fuelled by Renewable Synthetic Gasoline

Zurich: Synhelion supplied renewable synthetic gasoline to Bernina Gran Turismo, a historic motorsport event in the Swiss Alps, which took place from September 11–13, 2026. The collaboration introduced renewable fuel to the event for the first time.

Under real racing conditions, Bernina Gran Turismo demonstrated that renewable synthetic gasoline can be used in existing combustion engines without modification, preserving the performance and driving experience of the cars.

As an official fuel supplier and one of the main sponsors of Bernina Gran Turismo, Synhelion delivered renewable synthetic gasoline to power the cars competing in the race. The gasoline was produced at Synhelion’s industrial-scale synthetic fuel plant, DAWN, in Germany. Drivers were able to fuel their cars directly at Synhelion’s fuelling station near the paddock at Bernina Ospizio.

Tradition Meets the Future at Bernina Gran Turismo

Bernina Gran Turismo brought together cars, mountain roads, hospitality, and culture across the Engadin and Valposchiavo region – an automotive tradition that goes back almost 100 years. The event featured historic cars, classic cars, and supercars.

Synhelion’s delivery of synthetic gasoline marked the beginning of a long-term collaboration with Bernina Gran Turismo.

Same Engines, Renewable Fuel

Synhelion’s renewable synthetic gasoline reduces net CO2 emissions by up to 100% compared to fossil gasoline and is fully compliant with national and international standards. It can be used directly in conventional internal combustion engines without any modifications, offering a tangible solution to reduce emissions from the existing vehicle fleet. For the high-value, high-performance cars that competed in Bernina Gran Turismo, drop-in compatibility was key, allowing them to retain their existing engines and character.

Synhelion has already delivered synthetic fuels to customers for various transportation applications, such as cars, aircraft, and ships.
