Joint US-Israel Kills Iran’s Supreme Leader Khamenei and Many Top Figures, Iran’s Retaliatory Attack Targets Gulf States

Tel Aviv: After the killing of its top leadership on February 28, Iran started to attack Gulf States that are hosting American forces.

On February 28, 2026, a joint US–Israeli strike killed Iran’s Supreme Leader and several top regime, IRGC, military, and intelligence figures.

The Israeli Air Force attack was performed based on accurate real-time intelligence and by using heavy bombs.

The attack killed Ali Khamenei – Supreme Leader of Iran; Ali Shamkhani – Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security/Defence Council and senior adviser to Khamenei; Mohammad Pakpour – IRGC Ground Forces/IRGC commander; Amir (Aziz) Nasirzadeh – Iran’s Defence Minister; Mohammad Bagheri – Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces.

The attack also killed senior intelligence and security figures.

In retaliation, Iran launched ballistic missiles to hit cities in Israel. Almost all have been intercepted but one penetrated the Israeli air defences and hit a city in central Israel, killing one and wounding 25.

In addition, the Iranians launched missiles that hit Gulf and Middle Eastern states – Bahrain, Qatar, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Kuwait, Jordan and Saudi Arabia.

Israel and the US are performing heavy attacks on Iranian launching sites and other military installations.
