Jawa Yezdi Motorcycles and Indian Army Come Together for Shaurya Vijay Yatra, Culminating at Dras on Kargil Vijay Diwas

The 1,900-km expedition undertaken in partnership with the Indian Army honours the legacy of Kargil heroes and connects citizens with the spirit of service and sacrifice

Dras, Ladakh: Jawa Yezdi Motorcycles’ Shaurya Vijay Yatra, organised in partnership with the Indian Army, culminated at the Kargil War Memorial in Dras on Kargil Vijay Diwas, completing a 1,900-km journey that began at the National War Memorial in New Delhi. Bringing together serving and retired defence personnel, Veer Naris, families of martyrs and civilian riders, the expedition paid homage to the valour, dedication and supreme sacrifice of the heroes of the 1999 Kargil War.

A defining moment of the expedition was the ceremonial carriage of sacred soil from the National War Memorial to the Kargil War Memorial, symbolically connecting generations of Indian soldiers whose unwavering commitment continues to safeguard the nation’s freedom.

Travelling through the rugged terrains of Himachal Pradesh and Ladakh, participants paid respects at key military landmarks including Chandimandir, Rezang La and the Leh War Memorial before arriving in Dras. The journey served not only as a memorial ride but also as a reminder of the enduring legacy of India’s armed forces and the values they embody.

Since its inception in 2021, the ride conceptualised by Jawa Yezdi motorcycles has sought to carry the stories of India’s soldiers beyond military circles and into public consciousness. By bringing together members of the riding community, serving personnel, veterans, Veer Naris and families of martyrs, the initiative has evolved into a unique civil-military movement dedicated to preserving the spirit of courage, duty and selfless service for future generations.

This year’s expedition was flagged off by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and attended by senior military officials, veterans and invited guests, underscoring the significance of the initiative and its growing role in fostering public remembrance.

The expedition was completed aboard a fleet of Jawa and Yezdi motorcycles, including the Jawa 350, Jawa 42, Jawa 42 FJ, Yezdi Adventure and Yezdi Scrambler. Traversing high-altitude passes, challenging mountain routes and some of India’s most significant military landmarks, the motorcycles enabled riders to undertake a demanding journey befitting the spirit of the occasion.

Anupam Thareja, Co-founder, Classic Legends, said, “The Shaurya Vijay Yatra is our way of ensuring that the stories of India’s bravehearts continue to inspire future generations. From the National War Memorial to Dras, every kilometre of this journey was dedicated to honouring those who gave everything for the nation. We are proud to undertake this tribute alongside the Indian Army and the wider riding community. By bringing together serving and retired defence personnel, Veer Naris and civilian riders, we hope to ensure that the values of courage, service and national pride continue to resonate across generations.”

As riders gathered at the Kargil War Memorial on Kargil Vijay Diwas, the Shaurya Vijay Yatra reaffirmed its enduring purpose—to ensure that the legacy of India’s fallen heroes continues to inspire citizens across generations and that the spirit of Kargil remains etched in the nation’s collective memory.
