Do228 NXT Receives Official Water Salute at ILA Berlin 2026

Berlin: The new Do228 NXT turboprop aircraft celebrated a landmark moment at ILA Berlin 2026: the official water salute. A water salute is used to mark very special occasions for an aircraft, like the launch of a new aircraft series.

Last week, the aircraft was unveiled to the global public for the very first time – marking a new chapter in the legendary Dornier 228 series. Following a successful first flight and the completion of all required test procedures, the Do228 NXT demonstrator was presented in its brand-new special livery to an international audience in the static display area in Berlin.

The ILA 2026 served as the perfect stage for this milestone, bringing together manufacturers, customers, and delegations from across the aviation world – all of whom showed strong interest in the new aircraft.

The Do228 NXT quickly proved to be one of the highlights of the show: during the public days on the weekend, it attracted large crowds and became one of the most photographed aircraft of the entire event.
