Bengaluru. Indian precision manufacturer Aequs has secured new long-term supply agreements with French aerospace group Safran, covering components for several Airbus and Boeing aircraft programmes. The contracts extend an existing relationship with Safran Landing Systems and broaden Aequs’ work to include Safran Aerosystems and Safran Electronics & Defense, the company said. Aequs now works with six Safran entities.
The agreements cover machining superalloy parts and the precision machining, coating and assembly of landing-gear components. The aircraft programmes named are Airbus’s A320, A330 and A350, and Boeing’s 787. Neither the companies nor the reports disclosed the contracts’ value, production volumes or duration.
A significant portion of the new work is expected to be undertaken at Aequs’ planned Engine Components Ecosystem (AECE) in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. The company also expects to draw on its established aerospace operations in Belagavi, Karnataka. The Hosur facility is intended to expand capacity for medium and large aerospace components, while Belagavi offers capabilities spanning forging, precision machining, special processes, surface treatment and assembly.
The awards build on a partnership that has lasted more than a decade. In July 2026, Aequs and Safran Landing Systems agreed to manufacture fully assembled wheels for the Airbus A320 family. That serial-production contract runs through 2042, according to reports, and covers production in India from locally sourced aluminium through final assembly and testing. It was described as Aequs’ first serial-production agreement extending beyond 15 years.
Aequs executive chairman and chief executive Aravind Melligeri said the new components were among the more demanding flight-critical products to industrialise. He characterised the company’s partnerships as long-term collaborations built around manufacturing capability, reliability and scale. The company said the agreements would support Safran’s supply chain and ongoing production programmes, while expanding Aequs’ aerospace activity.
The deal illustrates how Indian suppliers are pursuing a larger role in international aerospace production-not only through individual component orders, but by building integrated manufacturing operations. Aequs says its manufacturing base combines processes that can take parts from forging and machining through finishing and assembly.
Such coordination is relevant to complex aerospace work, where components must meet stringent specifications and production schedules.
Safran’s expanded engagement also adds two business relationships beyond the established landing-systems collaboration. The new work will involve Safran Aerosystems and Safran Electronics & Defense, alongside existing links across Safran’s businesses. Reports say the expanded collaboration brings Aequs’ relationships with Safran entities to six.
Aequs operates manufacturing clusters in Karnataka, including Belagavi, Hubballi and Koppal, as well as operations in the United States and France. Its aerospace portfolio includes parts and assemblies for engine, structural, actuation and landing systems. The company supplies global manufacturers and system integrators, including Airbus, Boeing, Safran and Collins Aerospace.
The Hosur project will be important to delivering the additional work as the company expands its capacity for larger components. The new agreements mark another step in Aequs’ effort to deepen its position in global aerospace supply chains, while Safran gains an additional manufacturing partner for components tied to major commercial-aircraft programmes. The companies have not publicly detailed when production under the latest contracts will begin.
