Adani Defence to Invest Rs 1500 Crore in UP Defence Corridor, to Set Up South Asia’s Largest Integrated Ammunition Manufacturing Complex in Kanpur

Lucknow / New Delhi: At the third edition of Uttar Pradesh Investor Summit (UP Investor Summit 3.0) which began on June 3, Adani Defence & Aerospace announced that it will set up South Asia’s largest integrated ammunition manufacturing complex in defence industrial corridor of Uttar Pradesh. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed by the UP Government with the Adani Defence & Aerospace in regard during the investment summit at Lucknow.

Addressing the “ground-breaking” ceremony of the investors’ summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of 1,406 projects worth over Rs 80,000 crore in the state. Gautam Adani, Chairman of Adani Group  announced that the conglomerate would make an investment of Rs 70,000 crore in Uttar Pradesh.

Making the announcement at the summit, Adani Group Chairman – Gautam Adani said, “This is the largest private sector investment in UP defence corridor. Our large investments are the sign of our confidence that Uttar Pradesh of today will define India of tomorrow.”

With an investment of Rs 1500 crore, Adani Defence will be setting up the state-of-the-art ammunition development and manufacturing complex in Kanpur node of the UP Defence Industrial Corridor. Spread over more than 250 acres, the complex will have state-of-the-art technology across small and medium caliber ammunition, along with short-range air defence missiles.

The Group already has presence in small arms, unmanned aerial systems, radars, defence electronics & avionics, tactical communication systems, and electro-optical systems. Adani Defence has already established India’s first unmanned aerial vehicles manufacturing facility, India’s first private sector small arms manufacturing facility and is currently in process of setting up India’s first comprehensive aircraft MRO facility in Nagpur.

Giving credit to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for building a foundation on which UP’s trillion-dollar economy will be built, Gautam Adani termed Uttar Pradesh as a symbol of quantum leap forward.
