Tel Aviv, Israel. Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) on October 28 announced that its Board of Directors, headed by Chairman of the Board, Boaz Levy, has approved the agreement to merge ELTA into IAI, following the company’s announcement on July 6, 2026, regarding the Israeli Government’s approval of the merger.
The completion of the merger is subject to the fulfillment of several conditions and the receipt of the required approvals by the end of 2027, or by a later agreed date. As part of the merger, all of ELTA’s activities, assets, rights, and liabilities will be transferred in full to IAI. ELTA will continue to operate as a division under its existing name and will cease to exist as a separate legal entity, thereby eliminating unnecessary bureaucracy that complicates the company’s operations.
Boaz Levy, IAI’s Chairman of the Board, said, “The merger of ELTA into IAI is a significant strategic move that reflects a long-term vision and organisational responsibility. It is intended to strengthen the company’s organisational and business resilience, consolidate its capabilities, and reinforce its ability to continue growing, developing, and working toward achieving its business and strategic objectives, while creating long-term value. IAI’s strength rests not only on its technological and business capabilities, but above all on its human capital, the experience and knowledge accumulated within the company, and the partnership between management, employees, and their representatives.”
He added, “The move is being advanced in cooperation with the employees’ organisation, driven by a commitment to operating as one unified company, maximising the advantages of joining forces, and strengthening our ability to address future challenges. The Board of Directors’ approval marks a significant step in advancing this move, and its completion will be subject to obtaining the required approvals from the relevant state authorities. We will work to advance the process responsibly and in an orderly manner, guided by our commitment to the future of IAI and to strengthening its position as a leading defence and technology company in Israel and worldwide.”
Guy Bar Lev, IAI President and CEO, commented, “The merger of ELTA into IAI marks a significant milestone in realising our strategic ‘One Company’ vision. ELTA is one of IAI’s key centers of strength, and the groundbreaking technologies it develops are a key component in the defence systems of the State of Israel and many countries around the world. The merger represents another step in IAI’s development, building on its existing strengths and achievements over the years, and will enable the company to further strengthen its position as a global leader in the development of advanced defence systems.”
“At the same time, the move will enable IAI to leverage the advantages inherent in a unified organisational structure by simplifying processes, reducing interfaces, and increasing organisational flexibility. The merger is being carried out in cooperation and coordination with employee representatives, while preserving ELTA’s unique capabilities and its outstanding human capital, which form the foundation of both ELTA’s success and that of IAI as a whole,” he added.
