Vice Admiral AK Chawla, Flag Officer Commanding-In-Chief, Southern Naval Command Visits Indian Naval Academy

 

EZHIMALA. Vice Admiral AK Chawla, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Naval Command, visited Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala, 11 – 12 September.This was the Flag Officer’s maiden visit to INA since taking over the helm of Southern Naval Command. The Admiral was accompanied by Mrs. Sapana Chawla, President NWWA (Southern Region).

The C-in-C was briefed on training activities and the progress of ongoing infrastructure projects at INA and INS Zamorin. He also addressed the trainees, officers, faculty and instructors of INA. The Admiral interacted with Officers, sailors and civilian staff of INA, INS Zamorin, and INHS Navjivani that were actively involved in the Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operations during the recent floods in Kerala as also diving assistance for clearing the blockage of water supply at Pazhassi Dam.

During his visit, the C-in-C inaugurated Pratap Football Field at INA, that are named after Lt Cdr Surendra Pratap Singh, who in addition of being a member of Navy and Services football team in the prestigious tournaments like Santosh trophy and Durand cup was also instrumental in affiliation of Naval referees to the All India Football Federation.
