IAI Awarded Contract to Supply the Royal Thai Air Force with Advanced Barak MX Air Defence System

TEL AVIV, Israel. Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), a world-class aerospace and defence leader, announced December 4 that it was awarded a contract to supply the Royal Thai Air Force with the advanced Barak MX air defence system. 

Under the contract, IAI will deliver advanced air defence capabilities, providing Thailand’s airspace with enhanced protection against Tactical Ballistic Missiles (TBM) and Air Breathing Targets (ABT), including UAVs, fighter aircraft and cruise missiles with up to 150 km of defence coverage.

IAI President and CEO, Boaz Levy, said, “This contract award represents a significant milestone for IAI in East Asia, with Thailand being a key and influential country in the region. The Barak MX air defence system will provide Thailand with its first-ever medium-range air defence capability, offering comprehensive protection against both ballistic and aerial threats. The Barak MX system includes a Command and Control (C2) unit, IAI’s Multi-Mission Radar (MMR), launchers with surface-to-air missiles, a missile reloading vehicle and a logistic support vehicle. All components are mounted on high-mobility platforms, enabling rapid deployment and operational readiness within a short time. To provide the Royal Thai Air Force with comprehensive and local support, IAI has partnered with Thai Aviation Industries (TAI) for maintenance and additional tasks.
