Elbit Systems to Supply Advanced Airborne Munitions to IMOD, Awarded Two Contracts Worth $ 260 Million

Tel Aviv: Israeli company Elbit Systems was awarded two contracts in an aggregate amount of approximately $260 million for the supply of advanced airborne munitions to the Israel Ministry of Defence (IMOD).

Bezhalel (Butzi) Machlis, President and CEO of Elbit Systems said that the company  continues supporting the Israel Ministry of Defence with advanced solutions that enhance the operational readiness of the Israel Defence Forces.

”These new contracts underscore our commitment to delivering cutting-edge technologies that meet the evolving needs of Israel’s defence forces. These newly developed products join Elbit Systems’ growing portfolio of cutting-edge solutions, and I believe they will attract interest from armies around the world, given their relevance to emerging operational needs,” he said.

Elbit Systems manufactures products such as the Lizard precision guidance kit, which converts standard air-dropped bombs into precision-guided munitions using laser-based targeting. This enables accurate strikes on both stationary and moving targets and can be applied to Western and Eastern bomb types.

In recent major contracts, Elbit Systems is producing thousands of heavy air munitions domestically for the Israel Defence Forces, including the establishment of a raw material plant to further supply and ensure munitions independence for Israel in response to unpredictable foreign supply.

Elbit Systems delivers a range of air-to-ground munitions and guided missiles, including products like the MK 84 air-to-ground bombs (usually imported from the US, but now being domestically produced).
