Elbit Systems Acquires BAE Rokar Systems to Tap Big Potential Market for Advanced Ground to Ground Missiles

Tel Aviv. The acquisition of BAE Rokar Systems by Elbit Systems, is part of the Israeli company’s plan to invest in improved ground to ground missiles. While the Israeli defence forces (IDF) decided not to form a dedicated ground to ground missiles unit, the use of these weapon system is increasing in Israel and in foreign countries. Israeli source told Raksha Anirveda that the technology developed by Rokar will be used especially for increasing the accuracy of the ground – ground missiles. Located in Jerusalem, Israel, Rokar specializes in the development, manufacture, integration, and support of high-end GPS receivers and guidance systems for advanced defense applications.

Bezhalel (Butzi) Machlis, Elbit Systems President & CEO, commented: “There is increasing demand for our networked precision fire solutions. Rokar’s technologies are integrated in our solutions and the acquisition will further enhance our capabilities in this growing area of activity.”

After Elbit Systems acquired Israel military industries (IMI), it has continued with the development of ground to ground missiles. The acquisition of Rokar proves that Elbit Systems had already identified a big potential market for advanced ground to ground missiles.
