Minister of State – Defence Visits Gun & Shell Factory, Cossipore, Reviews Latest Advancements

Kolkata: Minister of State – Defence Sanjay Seth, visited the historic Gun & Shell Factory (GSF) on July 10, 2024. During his visit to the state-of-the-art facilities at GSF,  Minister of State – Defence Sanjay Seth reviewed the latest advancements in arms and ammunition production. He expressed appreciation for the critical role played by GSF in ensuring self-reliance of India’s defence infrastructure.

The visit included detailed briefings on current projects and future initiatives aimed at further modernising and expanding GSF’s production capacities. The Minister of State – Defence also interacted with the senior officials, recognising their efforts in maintaining the highest standards of quality and efficiency.

While Rajesh Choudhary, CMD, AWEIL presented the recent achievements of the Advanced Weapons and Equipment India Ltd (AWEIL), the Executive Director of GSF, Rajesh Kumar Pandey presentation highlighted GSF various initiatives towards modernisation and expansion.

Minister of State – Defence Sanjay Seth emphasised on the government’s focus on Aatmanirbharta and lauded the efforts of AWEIL and GSF in that direction. He said that this was a satisfying visit to the historic Gun & Shell Factory. He found GSF marching ahead in consonance with the philosophy and principles of Bharat’s defence production.

More specifically, after the new DPSUs were formed from erstwhile Ordnance Factory Board, it is quite evident that GSF and its parent organisation AWEIL are performing in a manner that has set new benchmarks for others to emulate.

The minister wished the dedicated officers and workmen of both GSF and AWEIL a great future ahead.
