Redefining India’s Regional Aviation Landscape: IndiaOne Air and De Havilland Canada Sign Letter of Intent to Purchase 10 Twin Otter Classic 300G Aircraft

New Delhi: In a remarkable move poised to redefine India’s regional aviation landscape, IndiaOne Air and De Havilland Canada have officially signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) to purchase 10 Twin Otter Classic 300G aircraft, marking a new chapter in the country’s connectivity narrative.  This exciting partnership signals a giant leap forward in bringing air travel to remote, underserved areas while unlocking the immense potential of seaplane operations across India’s vast rivers, lakes, and coastlines.

For De Havilland Canada, this agreement underscores their confidence in India’s soaring demand for small regional aircraft, and their iconic Twin Otter Classic 300G—the only twin-engine seaplane available today—emerges as the perfect choice for India’s diverse terrains. The latest 300G version comes packed with modern enhancements that make it both efficient and versatile, perfectly suited for short runways and water landings alike. The momentum is supported by last year’s successful seaplane demonstration tour, which revealed tremendous enthusiasm from the government, airlines, and the public for establishing seaplane routes requiring minimal infrastructure investment.

From India One Air’s perspective, this is not just an expansion—it’s an evolution of their mission. Having operated over 12,000 flights on single-engine Grand Caravan EX aircraft under the UDAN scheme, connecting communities that once spent half a day traveling by road but can now reach their destinations in under 90 minutes, the airline is ready to scale its vision.

The new 19-seater Twin Otter 300G aircraft will enable India One Air to open new routes under the UDAN 2026–2036 programme, deploying multiple aircraft per region to build a robust network of accessible air travel. With an expanding team, upgraded training programmes, and the induction of new professionals, the airline plans to maintain its stellar safety and service standards, ensuring an outstanding flying experience for every passenger.

As both companies express unwavering faith in regulatory and governmental support, this collaboration stands as a shining example of how innovation, perseverance, and shared purpose can take Indian skies to thrilling new heights—where every landing, be it on a remote airstrip or a quiet lagoon, brings communities a little closer together.
