Israel Aerospace Industries Appoints Dror Bar as IAI Vice President and CEO of ELTA

Date:

Tel Aviv. Israel Aerospace Industries, a world-class aerospace and defence leader, has appointed Dror Bar as IAI Vice President and CEO of ELTA. Bar was identified as the most suitable candidate after a long and rigorous search procedure was carried out in accordance with the procedure for appointing a CEO in government-owned companies.

ELTA’s board of directors, headed by IAI’s CEO Boaz Levy, unanimously deciding to adopt the recommendation of the search committee, headed by IAI Chairman Amir Peretz, appointed Dror Bar to serve as IAI’s VP and CEO of ELTA. The appointment is subject to the approval of the Appointments Review Committee, Israel’s Minister of Defense, and the Minister for Regional Cooperation who heads the Government Companies Authority. Prior to those approvals, the appointment will be considered temporary.

Dror Bar is an electrical engineer and has a master’s degree in business management. He joined Israel Aerospace Industries twenty-two years ago and currently manages the Air and Missile Defense Systems Division in IAI’s Systems Missiles and Space Group. Dror has overseen the factory for several years achieving wide-ranging business success as well as significant operational and technological achievements – both in Israel and with many customers around the world. Previously, he served as chief engineer for the development of an advanced radar system at ELTA and as a development engineer at ELTA who also brought to bear the techno-operational aspects needed when developing sophisticated systems, skills he acquired during his military service, as a valued officer in the Israel Air Force’s Active-Protection organisation.

Chairman of the board of Israel Aerospace Industries Amir Peretz said, “I am certain that Dror has the experience, ability and skills required to lead ELTA into its next chapter and to hit its objectives with an emphasis on the current Swords of Iron War, at a time when Israel’s security challenges, including the need for detection and identification capabilities, are the most important element in protecting the citizens of our country. This is the task facing ELTA – the home of Israel’s radar systems – in addition to its contribution to the autonomous capabilities of Israel’s Defense Forces (IDF). The composition of ELTA’s board of directors, which was recently finalised, with their Chairman – Boaz Levy – together with Dror Bar, its new CEO, will certainly bring results. I would also like to thank Israel Lupa, outgoing CEO, who made a significant contribution to ELTA during the interim period.”

ELTA’s chairman and IAI’s CEO Boaz Levy commented, “I would like to congratulate Dror Bar and wish him success in this important position and would like to thank Israel Lupa who has served as acting CEO until now. ELTA is both an IAI subsidiary and a group within IAI, and the appointment of Dror Bar to his new role is thus both a technological and business bridge for IAI enabling the development, realisation and supply of ELTA’s products as part of systems solutions for the entire company in space, in the air, at sea, on land, and in intelligence and cyber security.”

Both Peretz and Levy noted the complexity of the selection process due to the high level of those candidates who competed for the role, and wished to thank them for their professionalism and impressive array of capabilities which continue to lead the entire company to further successes.
