UltiMaker Announced as Exclusive US Distributor for Tectonic-3D, Expanding High-Performance Material Portfolio for Defence and Industrial Sectors

NEW YORK, US. UltiMaker, a global leader in desktop and industrial 3D printing, April 20 announced a landmark partnership as the exclusive North and South American distributorship for Tectonic-3D, an advanced materials developer specialising in high-performance polymer filaments, supporting Tectonic-3D’s aggressive market penetration efforts into the defence, oil and gas, industrial repair and medical market segments. This agreement formalises a long-standing technical relationship between the two companies and significantly expands UltiMaker’s material ecosystem.

Tectonic-3D positions itself as a high-end material supplier, moving beyond standard filament production to offer advanced molecular-level engineering for the most demanding industrial sectors. By specialising in high-performance polymers—including carbon-fiber reinforced, bio-based, and flame-retardant composites—Tectonic-3D addresses the critical “performance gap” in additive manufacturing where standard materials often fail to meet aerospace, defence, energy, industrial repair, medical and automotive end part performance requirements.

The partnership builds upon a history of successful collaboration in developing defence-specific applications. Tectonic-3D and UltiMaker have previously worked together to engineer specialised 3D printing profiles that enabled the use of Tectonic-3D materials in UltiMaker’s platforms for aerospace and defence applications.

UltiMaker and Tectonic-3D already support 10 dedicated print profiles within the UltiMaker Marketplace. These profiles are fully optimised for the UltiMaker S series and the Factor series. These pre-configured settings allow users to achieve industrial-grade results with Tectonic-3D’s specialised carbon fiber-reinforced and flame-retardant materials right out of the box.

“Tectonic-3D’s commitment to advanced material innovation perfectly complements our mission to provide a reliable, industrial-grade production platform,” said Jim Franz, President of the Americas at UltiMaker. “By becoming the exclusive US distributor, we are giving our customers direct access to the most advanced filaments on the market, backed by the seamless integration and support they expect from UltiMaker.”

UltiMaker will carry the full Tectonic-3D filament portfolio, including:

big bang
  • KRATIR Series: High-performance Carbon Fiber (CF) and Glass Fiber (GF) reinforced polymers (PET, PA, and PP) designed for extreme stiffness and heat resistance.
  • ZEPHYR Series: Bio-based, ultra-lightweight structural materials optimised for drone and aerial applications.
  • VULCAN Series: High-temperature, flame-retardant filaments including PEI (Ultem™), PEKK, and PPSU for the most demanding environments.
  • ANASA Series: Biocompatible and flexible TPC materials for medical and ergonomic applications.

We look forward to building upon our partnership with UltiMaker,” said Ken Kempinski, CEO and Co-founder of Tectonic-3D. “Our materials are designed to push the boundaries of what is possible in additive manufacturing. We are extremely excited to expand our collaborations with Ultimaker on their S and Factor series printers.”
