Israel and Germany Start Negotiations for Arrow-3 System Procurement

Tel Aviv: Israel and Germany’s Defense Ministries and Israel Aerospace Industries have launched discussions regarding the drafting of an agreement for the procurement of the Arrow-3 system.

The advanced negotiations were launched this week in Germany, with the aim of drafting a detailed agreement for the delivery of the Israeli Arrow-3 system to the German Ministry of Defense. The Israeli negotiation party is led by the Director of the Israel Missile Defense Organization in the IMOD -DDR&D, Moshe Patel.

The “Arrow-3” air defence system is one of the most advanced of its kind – employed to intercept exo-atmospheric ballistic missiles. The Israel Missile Defense Organization (IMDO) in the Israel Ministry of Defense Directorate for Defence R&D, and the United States Missile Defense Agency (MDA) jointly developed the system. The primary contractor for the integration and development of the system is Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), working with additional Israeli and American defence industries.

The system is jointly developed and produced with the United States. As such, the defence export process is contingent upon the approval of the US government.

Head of the Israel Missile Defense Organization, Moshe Patel said that the launch of advanced negotiations for the delivery of the strategic Arrow-3 system to Germany is an important milestone, which further strengthens the ties between our countries. “We look forward to a fruitful negotiation process in the weeks ahead of us,” he said.

IAI CEO, Boaz Levy said that the cutting-edge Arrow-3 system plays a central role in Israel’s multi-tier air defence array.

“We value the opportunity to share our capabilities with the partners and allies of the State of Israel. Within the framework of this agreement, we further deepen our security ties between Israel and Germany,” said Boaz Levy.
