Tel Aviv: The Israeli Iron Dome air defence systems has again protected the country from the heavy salvos of rockets launched from Gaza since the beginning of the war on October 7. It was comforting to hear the distinct sound of intercepts above our city. Israeli sources said that the system has intercepted 96 % of the rockets with trajectories having a hit point in civilian areas.
Some rockets hit cities and caused death and injuries. The Israeli death toll from the Hamas attack is 1,200, the IDF confirmed on October 11 morning. The IDF also confirmed that the number of wounded from the attacks are around 2,700.
The Hamas terror organisation in Gaza managed to enter a number of villages located on the border and until the Israeli army stopped the attack. The terrorists killed civilians that were in the homes in the early hours of the day. The Hamas terrorists killed whole families, in some cases beheaded children and women.
The IDF said Hamas had fired over 4,500 rockets towards Israel since the start of the war. In response, Israel has targeted 2,329 sites in Gaza so far. Gaza has been disconnected from water supply and electricity. The Israeli air force dropped hundreds of tons of bombs on Hamas targets. In an emotional speech on Tuesday, US President Joe Biden pledged to ensure that the Jewish state would have all it needs to respond to the devastating weekend onslaught. He also revealed unprecedented and specific details of the “sheer evil” wrought by Hamas against Israel. “There are moments in this life — I mean this literally — when a pure unadulterated evil is unleashed on this world,” he said in a hushed voice during a speech shown live on many American and Israeli television channels. “This is an act of sheer evil.”
With its approximately 5,000 sailors and deck of warplanes, the USS Gerald R. Ford, the Navy’s newest and most technologically advanced aircraft carrier, is sailing to the Mediterranean accompanied by cruisers and destroyers in a show of force that is intended to be prepared to respond to anything, including possibly preventing more weapons from reaching Hamas.
