New Delhi. In the series of bi-annual conclaves on Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR), the third HADR conclave in J&K was again organised by Air Force Station Jammu, on July 17. The conclave was aimed at sysnergising the joint Civil-Military operations towards HADR. The conclave was attended by senior officers from Indian Army, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and J&K police and Fire department.

The conference commenced with presentation by the IAF, on the conduct of HADR missions using IAF Helicopters in the face of calamities and improving the efficacy of these operations in close co ordination with SDRF. Employability of RPAs (Remotely Piloted Aircrafts) was also emphasised for HADR situations. A number of scintillating displays including flying simulated operations by Helicopter, use of various rescue equipment from the Helicopter by slithering and winching, was conducted.

SDRF showcased its ability to conduct rescue operations from tall buildings using the Flying Fox Cradle and Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). Fire fighting ability of J&K Fire Department was demonstrated and a static display of all modern relief and rescue equipment including earthquake relief, and Helicopter in ambulance version, was showcased with an aim to conduct improved and coherent operations in future.

The Air Officer Commanding, Air Force Station Jammu, Air Cmde Shashi Kant Mishra Vayusena Medal (Gallantry) concluded the conclave by appreciating efforts of all the involved agencies and hoped for improving the synergy amongst all the agencies by understanding each other’s constraints and strengths and utilising them towards building up a safer future for the residents of the state.
