Tel Aviv: In order to assist Israel in defending itself against prospective Iranian missile assaults, the Pentagon announced on Sunday, October 13 that it will send a high-altitude anti-missile system along with a US military staff to back up the Israeli multi-tiered air defence system.
Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin “authorised the deployment of a Terminal High-Altitude Area Defence (THAAD) battery and associated crew of US military personnel to Israel to help bolster Israel’s air defences following Iran’s unprecedented attacks against Israel on April 3 and again on October.
Israel decided to retaliate and preparations are being made , with planned attacks on “selected targets”. In the past Israel and the US have exercised the combined operation of the Israeli Arrow ballistic missiles interceptor with the US THAAD.
Iran is expected to launch ballistic missiles after the Israeli planned retaliation. The Iranians in the past launched big salvos of ballistic missiles and brought the US to send its systems to Israel.
It is expected that the US will also operate its long range radars to assist Israel to get an early warning of the expected missiles attack from Iran.
