PM Cancels Belgium Visit in View of Coronavirus

 

New Delhi: The outbreak of Coronavirus has forced Prime Minister Narendra Modi to cancel his visit to Belgium which was due next week.

Belgian capital Brussels was expected to host the next India-European Union Summit, aimed at expanding the strategic partnership.

In February, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar had visited Brussels to lay the groundwork for the visit.

The summit was to be held under the shadow of the protests over the Citizenship Amendment Act and the government’s big move in abrogating Article 370 giving special status to Jammu and Kashmir and bifurcating it into two Union Territories.

Notably, last month a group of diplomats from the European Union visited Jammu and Kashmir to survey the ground situation.
