According to the ministry, this acquisition will provide further boost to the vision of “Aatmanirbharta in Defence” with indigenous content (IC) of more than 85 per cent and the contract will also open up a large avenue in defence manufacturing for over 125 Indian vendors and Defence PSUs for over a period of five years.

The procurement of SRCGs guns will enable the forces to target small threats and further strengthen the maritime security. The SRCGs’ advanced features, including stabilisation and remote control, ensure precise targeting, enhancing operational efficiency and safety for naval personnel.

Marking a significant milestone in enhancing India’s defence capabilities, the contract between the Ministry of Defence and AWEIL is a significant step towards bolstering the Indian Navy and Indian Coast Guard’s capabilities. The deal underscores the government’s commitment to advancing India’s defence sector and promoting domestic defence production.
