India’s aviation industry has experienced significant growth in the past 10 years. The number of operational airports in the country has doubled from 74 in 2014 to over 150 in 2024. The domestic air passengers have more than doubled in the past decade, with Indian airlines significantly expanding their fleets.

India is rightfully taking the position it deserves in the world, he said.

Global companies “really want to involve themselves” with India, which is the third-largest domestic market in the world, he said. “They are aware of the Viksit Bharat vision we have envisaged under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, where we want to become the number 1 player,” he said.

Emphasising that Civil Aviation sector carries a huge potential, Naidu said the Centre has built 159 airports over the last 10 years across the country. “No other country has achieved this kind of growth. The number of passengers have doubled from 2014,” he said.
