GRSE Swachhta Pakhwada 2018 Comes to a Close with Swachhta Sarthi Bike Rally

Kolkata. The ‘Swachhta Pakhwada’ 2018, being observed at Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Ltd (GRSE), came to a close through a colourful ceremony in Kolkata on December 15.

As a part of concluding ceremony a “Swachhta Sarthi Bike Rally” was organized in the twin city of West Bengal i.e. at Kolkata and Howrah.

Around 125 participants in 67 bikes participated in the rally. The rally was flagged off at Main Unit by SS Dogra, Director (Finance) in the presence of AK Nanda, Director (Personnel), Cmde Sanjeev Nayyar, IN (Retd), Director (Shipbuilding), Dipankar Mahto, Chief Vigilance Officer, D Maitra, CGM (Main Works), AK Mahapatro, GM (HR&A) and other hundreds of employees of GRSE.

The rally terminated at AJC Bose Indian Botanic Garden after covering around 15 kms. throughout the city of Kolkata & Howrah. Different activities like performance of short drama in Main unit, nukkad natak at various locations like Ramnagar, Watgunge and near Indian Botanic Garden, distribution of leaflets, cleanliness drive etc. were undertaken during the rally to spread awareness among the citizens in the twin city of Kolkata and Howrah.

Swachhta has become a way of life for the employees of GRSE with Chairman & Managing Director being at the helm of affairs of initiating multipronged initiatives to ensure Swachhta inside and outside the company as well as to generate interest and passion among the employees to spread the message of Swachhta far and near.

Before flagging off the bike rally, the Directors expressed their appreciation to the employees for their active participation during Pakhwada and advised the employees to make cleanliness as their way of life, instead of a short term activity.

Swachhta Pakhwada is being observed at GRSE for the last 15 days. Various Swachhta events are being organised during the periods which have been enumerated below.

Celebration of Swachhta Pakhwada under Swachh Bharat Mission started in GRSE on December 1 with the administration of oath by Chairman & Managing Director, GRSE, Rear Admiral V K Saxena, IN (Retd) to the employees.

A cleanliness drive was followed in and around the ‘Bichali Ghat Bus Stand Area’ near the Corporate Office where Chairman & Managing Director, all Functional Directors and other Senior Officials took part in cleaning the area. The CISF personnel of GRSE unit also participated in the Swachhta Pakhwada event.

A seminar was organized on December 6 on cleanliness, efficient disposal of waste, effluent treatment. An Inter School painting competition was organized to spread awareness about benefits of cleanliness and hygiene. Students from eight schools participated in the competition.

A ‘Swachhta Shramdan’ programme was carried out on December 8 by cleaning the premises of Satghara High Madrasah school.GRSE employees along with school students took part in the cleaning activity. Also to generate more ideas regarding effective ways of sustainable cleanliness, a lively debate competition was conducted for employees.

The topic of debate competition was “Swachhta – A responsibility of Government” in three languages i.e. Hindi, Bengali and English. As a part of Swachhta Pakhwada, tree plantation programme was also organised at Main Unit where Chairman & Managing Director, all Functional Directors, Chief Vigilance Officer and other employees took part.
