GRSE Signs Teaming Agreement with Merlinhawk Aerospace

Kolkata: Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) Limited has signed a Teaming Agreement with Merlinhawk Aerospace Pvt Ltd on September 3, 2025, for the design, development, and manufacture of composite doors and hatches for the ships of Indian Navy being built at GRSE.

Merlinhawk Aerospace is a well -recognised entity in the Indian industry ecosystem for its niche expertise in aerospace and defence sectors, offering design, prototyping and manufacturing solutions utilising high-end composite materials.

This Teaming Agreement is aimed towards establishing a collaborative framework for the design, development, testing, manufacturing, and integration of composite doors and hatches onboard naval ships, aligning with the Indian Navy’s modernisation initiatives.

The primary target opportunity under this Agreement is the fabrication and integration of composite doors and hatches along with locking mechanism and associated components for naval vessels to replace conventional steel doors and hatches.

The collaborative association between the pioneer shipbuilder in India and the frontrunner entity in composite structures and components is aimed at achieving indigenous content of at least 50% as required under the Buy (Indian-IDDM) or Buy (Indian) categories thereby furthering the objectives of self-reliance in defence manufacturing as outlined in the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative of Govt of India.
