External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj Visits Vietnam, Cambodia

 

New Delhi. External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj paid an official visit to Vietnam and Cambodia from August 27-30.

In Vietnam, she co-chaired the 16th meeting of the Joint Commission along with her counterpart Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh. She also called on Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc. On August 27, the EAM inaugurated the Third edition of the Indian Ocean Conference.

In Cambodia from August 29 to 30, she had a bilateral meeting with Prak Sokhonn, Senior Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Cambodia and called on Prime Minister Hun Sen and President of Senate Say Chhum. This was the EAM’s first official visit to Cambodia.

It is expected that the visit of EAM to Vietnam and Cambodia will provide an opportunity to hold in-depth discussions with the political leadership on a wide range of global, regional and bilateral issues and advance our strategic engagement with these countries and ASEAN region.
