BEML Secures Prestigious Rs 282 Crore Order from Indian Army for High Mobility Vehicles

Bangalore. In a significant boost to indigenous defence manufacturing, BEML Limited, a Schedule ‘A’ Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Defence, has received a prestigious order valued at ₹282 crore from the Indian Army for the supply of High Mobility Vehicles (HMVs) with four-door cabins for tactical logistics.

These specialized HMVs will play a critical role in transporting strategic assets, including Battle Tanks and Engineering Equipment, which are essential to the operational readiness and mobility of the Armed Forces. Designed with a custom-built cabin and all-terrain powerline, the vehicles are engineered to perform in some of the most challenging and rugged terrains, ensuring uninterrupted mission capability under demanding conditions.

The centerpiece of this order is the BEML HMV PT 8×8, a heavy-duty, high-performance vehicle crafted for special terrain applications. It is specifically intended for hauling trailers of up to 100,000 kg connecting weight. The vehicle is equipped with an integrated winch system for self-recovery and towing tasks.

Powering this advanced platform is a 300 kW (402 bhp), 2100 Nm, V8 air-cooled engine paired with a 24-speed manual transmission and independent suspension axles for enhanced drivability and exceptional cross-country mobility.

This order further strengthens BEML’s position as a trusted partner to the Indian Armed Forces and underscores its commitment to Aatmanirbhar Bharat by delivering indigenous, mission-ready solutions for India’s strategic defence requirements.
