IAI Unveils MOSP5000: A New Electro-Optical Observation System for Ultra-Long-Range Observations

The MOSP5000 includes the latest AI and sensing technologies in a unique configuration that combines multiple observation channels in a common aperture

Date:

Abu Dhabi. Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), a world-class aerospace and defence leader, is expanding its family of dedicated electro-optical payloads (EOS) with the launch of the MOSP 5000 (Multi-Mission Optronic Stabilised Payload), a long-range observation system with three observation channels.

The new payload includes a laser designator (for precise munitions guidance). It is adapted for aerial and maritime platforms, serving as a means for detection, tracking, identification, target validation, investigation, and target marking. The system is intended for use by air and sea forces, including mission aircrafts, helicopters, UAVs, ships and other maritime vessels.

The MOSP 5000 integrates the latest technologies, including advanced day cameras, infrared (night), and SWIR (Short Wave Infrared) cameras, with continuous optical zoom. This facilitates high-quality observation in harsh weather and environmental conditions, including smoke, haze, and clouds. The new payload is characterised by high image stabilisation as well as advanced AI capabilities, enabling long-range observation performance for detecting and tracking multiple targets.

The MOSP 5000, developed at TAMAM, IAI’s electro-optics and navigation division, joins TAMAM’s suite of electro-optical systems, including the the latest systems – MOSP 3000, MiniPOP, Tactical POPSTAR, MegaPOP and the legacy POP300 system as well. The MOSP 5000 is a multi-sensor observation system, developed from the successful design concept of existing systems currently in operational use, and based on TAMAM’s 60 years of experience working with defense forces.

Ariel Wisniak, VP and General Manager of TAMAM Division at IAI, said, “The new payload marks another milestone in the development of stabilised observation systems integrated with Israel Aerospace Industries’ AI capabilities, including laser designation and automatic target tracking.  This significantly enhances the operational capabilities of forces in the field. The payload combines miniaturisation technologies with operational needs. It is based on experience gained from operating systems in the field, and lessons learned through close cooperation with our customers.”

“The MOSP5000 is a highly flexible system, allowing customers to integrate it on various platforms and customise it to their unique requirements. It facilitates automatic tracking and precise and high line-of-sight stabilisation capabilities while maintaining the highest image quality. The payload design allows for adjustments to meet customer needs and maximum flexibility for installation on various platforms,” Wisniak added.
