Tirupati Varsity Signs MoU to Boost Drone and Space Tech Innovation

New Delhi. In a significant step towards excellence in drone and space technology, Sri Venkateswara University (SVU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with multiple industry leaders under the ‘Drones and Space Technologies Consortium’ in Tirupati on November 21. The consortium includes RFLY Innovations Pvt Ltd, Earthnow Pvt Ltd, Aerohub Pvt Ltd, Aurantius Tech Services Pvt Ltd and Tech Services Pvt Ltd.

The MoU was signed in the presence of SVU vice-chancellor Prof Ch Appa Rao, registrar Prof M Bhupathi Naidu and representatives of the Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA). Prof Rao exchanged copies of the MoU with RFLY Innovations general manager Ritesh Kumar Singh, EarthNow CEO Barahalikar Narsing Rao, Aerohub director Pranavkumar Chitte and Aurantius representative Srinivas Prasad Kunduru.

The MoU aims to advance innovation in drone and space technologies through various initiatives, including the establishment of DGCA-approved remote pilot training organisation certification programmes, the launch of incubation programmes to nurture start-ups and innovators, and research collaborations aimed at developing next-generation drone and space solutions.

Addressing the gathering, Prof Rao underlined the collaboration’s potential to revolutionise research and skill development. “This partnership is a pivotal step in driving research, innovation, training and skill development, benefiting students and researchers,” he said.

Reiterating his commitment to establish a ‘Centre of Excellence in Earth Science and Atmospheric Labs’ through RUSA funding, Prof Rao saw the need to embrace cutting-edge technologies for the holistic development of the students.

Referring to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s vision to make Andhra Pradesh the ‘Drone capital of India’, Prof Rao asserted that SV University, Chandrababu Naidu’s alma mater, would play a pivotal role in creating an ecosystem conducive to research in drone technologies.

Varsity registrar Prof M Bhupathi Naidu lauded the initiative’s alignment with Andhra Pradesh’s progressive drone policy. “This MoU lays the foundation for turning Andhra Pradesh into a global hub for drone manufacturing, research and training. It will not only boost SVU’s research ecosystem but also catalyses the state’s technological ambitions,” he said.
