Nalwa Aero Partners with Helicopter Giants to Enter in eVTOL Era

Government backed- Pawan Hans, Global Vectra and Himalayan Heli sign MoU; eVTOL Pre-Orders Announced at Wings India 2026

Hyderabad: In a significant milestone for Indian aviation, Nalwa Aero has signed strategic Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with leading helicopter operators Global Vectra Helicorp, government-backed Pawan Hans Ltd., and Himalayan Heli Services at Wings India 2026. The partnerships mark the formal entry of India’s helicopter industry into the emerging electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing (eVTOL) and advanced air taxi ecosystem. As part of the collaboration, Himalaya Heli Services has placed pre-orders for Nalwa’s upcoming eVTOL aircraft.

This collaboration aims to unlock a new era of regional and urban air mobility. The partners plan to deploy eVTOL aircraft for pilgrimage travel, including Char Dham Yatra routes, air ambulance services, urban and intercity air taxi operations, and offshore crew and logistics transport. The introduction of electric aircraft is expected to enhance access, efficiency, and sustainability across these critical aviation segments.

A key feature of Nalwa’s aircraft is its multi-rotor electric propulsion system with several patents, which offers inherent safety advantages. Unlike conventional single-main-rotor helicopters, a distributed multi-rotor configuration provides propulsion redundancy, enhanced stability, and improved control, which make it much safer than helicopters. These attributes make the aircraft particularly suitable for mountainous terrain, dense urban environments, and emergency medical missions.

Electric propulsion promises lower operating costs, reduced noise levels, and zero in-flight emissions, enabling operators to expand services into routes previously constrained by conventional helicopter economics. The quieter footprint is especially valuable for religious destinations and urban centres, while improved efficiency supports higher-frequency short-haul connectivity.

Speaking on the occasion, Kuljeet Sandhu, CEO of Nalwa Aero, said, “Our vision is to make air travel a daily mode of transport rather than a luxury. In collaboration with experienced operators like Pawan Hans, Global Vectra and Himalaya Heli Services, we aim to introduce air taxi services at fares starting from not more than ₹200 per passenger on select short routes.”

Nalwa Aero has already achieved important regulatory milestones, having received Design Organisation Approval from Indian aviation authorities last year, with its Type Certification application recently accepted. The company is currently progressing sub-scale prototype development and targets full-scale operational readiness by 2028.
