Tel Aviv: A security agreement between Israel and the United Arab Emirates will allow Israeli airlines to resume flights to Dubai, the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) said on March 4. A dispute over airport security in Dubai had forced them to cut back services and without a resolution all flights would have been halted by March 8.
“Agreement was reached about shared working principles and security arrangements that will allow Israeli airlines to resume regular flights to Dubai,” it said. Nonstop flights from Tel Aviv to Dubai began after the signing of the Abraham Accords.
As in similar disputes, here also the UAE was reluctant to accept the Israeli demands for the presence of armed security officers in the Dubai airport. In the meeting earlier this week an agreement was reached that satisfies the strict Israel security regulations.
