Largest-ever India-US Military Exercise ‘Yudh Abhyas’ to Commence from September 9 in Rajasthan

New Delhi: Marking a new milestone in the defence partnership between the two nations, India and the United States are set to conduct their largest-ever joint military exercise ‘Yudh Abhyas’ at the Mahajan Field Firing Range in Rajasthan from September 9 to 24. This historic event will see the participation of 600 soldiers from each country. This will be the 20th edition of the India-US joint military exercise.

The unprecedented number of troops involved makes the Mahajan exercise a special one, reflecting the growing scale and ambition of this long-standing military collaboration. The previous editions of the exercise’ Yudh Abhyas’ were held in diverse environments, with the 2023 exercise taking place in Alaska, USA, and the 2022 edition conducted in Auli, Uttarakhand.

Designed to enhance interoperability and strengthen the operational capabilities of both forces, the upcoming exercise will feature a range of advanced military tactics and coordinated manoeuvres aimed at improving the readiness of both armies in high-stakes scenarios. The deployment of the US military’s High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS) will be one of the highlights of the exercise.
