IAI Successfully Completed a Series of Demonstrations Presenting an Innovative, Integrated Solution for National Border Protection

The demonstrations were successfully conducted for Israel’s senior security and political leadership and included new and advanced systems in accordance with operational requirements. IAI is the first Company to present this comprehensive national border defence solution to senior security and political leadership

Tel Aviv, Israel. Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), a world-class aerospace and defence leader, has successfully completed a series of demonstrations of a new border protection solution designed to safeguard Israel’s borders. The solution was developed and produced by IAI, in accordance with the requirements of Israel’s defence establishment. Designed to provide a comprehensive response in both routine and emergency scenarios, across all of Israel’s borders, the solution delivers a lethal and effective response to a wide range of threats on land, in the air and at sea.

The new solution is based on advanced technologies for intelligence gathering from a wide range of sensors and platforms that provide a common intelligence picture, alongside available lethal assets across the border that can be rapidly and autonomously activated. Shortening sensor-to-shooter loops between threat detection and neutralisation were operationally proven, starting from the intelligence gathering and processing stages through to lethality and loop-closing – all of the above were enabled by connectivity across all of the Company’s systems, from space down to the autonomous ground vehicle in the field.

At the core of the solution is a centralised mission system that integrates advanced intelligence-gathering technologies from multiple sensors and platforms with lethal systems for rapid sensor-to-shooter closure. Using advanced, artificial intelligence-based technologies, the system processes information and enables seamless connectivity and communication across all components.

IAI President and CEO, Boaz Levy, said, “Israel’s topography and borders are among the most complex and challenging in the world. As a small country with no strategic land depth, facing a wide range of threats from the air, sea and land, these threats must be neutralised rapidly and as far from the country’s territory as possible. The solution presented to the defence establishment is autonomous, innovative and highly robust, providing a relevant response to the full spectrum of threats across all border scenarios, while protecting the lives of soldiers operating in the field. This is the first system of its kind to be successfully demonstrated in Israel. Over the past two years, IAI has been operating continuously to safeguard national security, driven by a clear commitment to deliver innovative, integrated, game-changing solutions.”

Key capabilities integrated into the demonstrations included the ELM- 2058, an intelligence-gathering UAV capable of persistent tracking in all weather and visibility conditions using miniaturised, advanced SAR radar; APUS 60 – a VTOL UAV with intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities, equipped with a weapon station for rapid kill-chain; and Blue Sky Warden, a light border protection aircraft developed in cooperation with L3Harris.
