Tel Aviv: Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) and Hanwha Systems Co., one of South Korea’s leading defence contractors, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to market combat suites for naval platforms to customers around the world and specifically across Asia.
With both the companies joining hands and each contributing a breadth of experience in naval combat technology, will greatly enhance the potential for commercial presence across the Asian market. In the context of the MoU, IAI and Hanwha Systems Co. will establish a steering committee to direct and monitor the progress of the collaboration.
Boaz Levy, President and CEO of IAI, said: “IAI is honoured to sign this MoU with Hanwha Systems Co. to further market naval combat suite solutions. This milestone represents our deep cooperation with our partners in the Korean defence industry. Leveraging cutting-edge technologies and innovation, and based on decades of experience developing and fielding integrated naval suites, sensors, and combat systems, IAI’s innovative naval systems enable navies to protect their national waters even under the most challenging conditions. This, coupled with Hanwha’s experience and expertise, allows for an even greater solution to customers across Asia.”
IAI’s naval combat suite provides advanced air and missile defence, precision strike, surveillance, monitoring and command and control capabilities for the current and future platforms of the next decades. These combat systems are designed to maximize and optimize the individual systems’ performance and capabilities in a manner that will enable them to operate synergistically with efficiency and full effectiveness. In each phase, the relevant weapon systems are assigned to the combat scenario and designated to the relevant target.
The combat suite enables the most intelligent use of resources over the course of the mission, optimizing the best solution for each combat scenario and the use of the best weapon at any given time. Optimizing the best solution for each combat scenario and to use the best weapon at any given time. The combat suite is managed and integrated by an advanced CMS, that is adaptive to platform characteristics and has an advanced application to build a clear tactical picture, that enables effective decision making and intelligent implementation of the different weapons systems.
The suite enables sensor integration (above and below water), hard kill (missiles and guns) and soft kill (above water and below water, decoys and EW) in such a manner that will provide a full defence against a variety of current and future threats in all dimensions.
The strike systems are built to operate in congested and cluttered arenas by enabling our operators to discriminate targets at long distances while overcoming current and future hard kill and EW countermeasures to execute coordinated attacks successfully.
