Guwahati: Air Marshal Surat Singh, Air Officer Commanding in Chief (Eastern Command) on January 14 highlighted the enduring legacy of selfless service and sacrifices made by ex-servicemen in safeguarding the nation.
The AOC-in-C paid his tribute to the veterans of the Indian Armed Forces on the occasion of the 10th Armed Forces Veterans Day at the Air Force Station here.
Air Marshal Surat Singh said, “The enduring legacy of selfless service and sacrifices made by ex-servicemen in safeguarding the nation was indeed laudable.”
The ceremony commenced with a wreath-laying at the War Memorial by Air Marshal Singh.
The AOC-in-C highlighted the government’s commitment to veterans’ welfare, including enhanced pension reforms and healthcare under the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) and skill development initiatives. He also interacted with veterans on key issues like resettlement and empanelment of medical facilities.
The programme featured felicitation of senior veterans and an exhibition on welfare schemes by various agencies.Interaction stalls facilitated on-the-spot resolutions for pension and medical queries, benefiting numerous ex-servicemen.
More than1500 veterans, serving personnel, Veer Naris and families were present on the occasion.
